Joanne Chu, Ph.D.
Joanne Chu, Ph.D., has over two decades of experience guiding organizations to better embody and execute their mission and purpose. Dr. Chu’s expertise includes leadership development, organizational effectiveness, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and strategies for organizational change.
Dr. Chu has developed compelling methodology and programs that enable leaders and their teams to achieve exceptional collaborative leadership and problem-solving abilities. She has expertise working with clients from diverse industries, including higher education, K-12, healthcare, environmental conservation, social justice, municipalities, and governments. She is passionate about developing leaders at all professional stages of their careers. She is adept at coaching women and leaders of color.
Dr. Chu grew up in central New York and has a Ph.D. in Behavioral Neuroscience from the University of Texas, Austin. Her research expertise is in the neuroscience of social communication. She began her career as a professor in biology and neuroscience at Spelman College, a preeminent historically black college for women in Atlanta, GA, and was the founding director of the Southeastern Institute for Sustainability at Georgia Perimeter College, the largest community college in Georgia. Prior to co-founding Strelo Group, Dr. Chu was founding principal of EcoEthos Solutions, a consultancy dedicated to advancing environmental sustainability outcomes in academic institutions and sustainability-focused organizations.
Joanne is a graduate of the Institute for Georgia Environmental Leadership. In her leisure time, she loves any activity that engages her with nature. She resides with her family in Decatur, GA., along with two dogs and many pairs of cowboy boots.
